One person has been killed in an accident at a uranium enrichment plant in Russia, Russian nuclear authority Rosatom confirmed on Friday. A cylinder with depleted uranium leaked.
Other factory workers in the closed city of Novouralsk were also medically monitored, but they were able to return to their homes. There would be no danger to their health.
No radioactivity was detected, according to Rosatom, which operates the plant. “The incident was quickly identified and does not pose a risk to the population.”
