Job Summary
Under the responsibility of the Program Director, the incumbent participates in the implementation of the program’s action plan in the Mercier-Hochelaga-Maisonneuve borough. The main responsibility consists in the implementation of activities and projects related to the promotion of urban safety as well as the prevention of crime. The team is called upon to work with people who experience realities such as drug use, HIV, hepatitis C and other STBBIs, homelessness and sex work.
Responsibilities
In an intervention approach of risk reduction and empowerment of individuals:
Ensure a presence in the public space; Refer citizens to the appropriate resources as needed; Inform and educate citizens about the issues of cohabitation and space sharing; Be aware of regulations related to public spaces and referencing mechanisms to resources;
Requirements
Great autonomy: priority management, good judgment and flexibility; Knowledge of the community environment and the MHM borough; Understanding of the realities related to the people met; Adherence to harm reduction and self-help community action; Ability to express oneself and to popularize well in French and in functional English; Excellent writing and synthesis skills in French; Great relational skills, ease in getting in touch with various types of citizens; Good physical condition (the work is done outdoors, in active transportation); Interest in issues related to urban security; First aid training, an asset; Valid driver’s license (class 5);
Working conditions
Variable schedule of 35 hours per week; Entry salary between $25.00 and $27.00, depending on the salary scale; Access to group insurance, RRSP and other benefits.
