Presentation

A 75-year-old woman presented for 2 months with functional urinary signs such as burning, pollakiuria and polydipsia with sensation of oral dryness. She has no fever or flu syndrome, but has lost 3 kg since the onset of symptoms.

She has a history of COPD Gold I, essential arterial hypertension (HTA) on beta-blocker and fractured osteoporosis.

She recounts having received several courses of antibiotics in recent months for an initial cytobacteriological examination of urine (ECBU) positive for E. coli wild, with no improvement in symptoms. She received successively 5 days of treatment with FURADANTINE (2 capsules x 3/day), 1 single dose of FOSFOMYCIN-TROMETAMOL, 7 days of LEVOFLOXACINE (500 mg/day) and finally 5 days of AUGMENTIN (1 gram x3/day ).

The control ECBU carried out during all of its treatments found a cloudy appearance of the urine, leukocytes at 5 million/mL, 10^4 Candida kefyr.
