The United States was surprised by the decision of China to join the Russian military exercises in the Far East called “Vostok-2022”. According to The Wall Street Journal analysts, the American leadership did not expect the possibility of any large-scale military cooperation between Beijing and Moscow.

“China and Russia are not formal treaty allies, but they are primarily bound by common interests, including the desire to contain US global dominance. In recent years, the Russian and Chinese military have repeatedly conducted joint exercises, which often provoked protests from the United States and other countries, ”the publication notes, citing the position of analysts close to the White House. Officially, the authorities of the United States of America have not yet reacted to the upcoming exercises in any way and have not made any statements about them.

According to the publication, the US authorities pay attention to the fact that China, after the start of the Russian special operation in Ukraine, did not criticize Moscow’s actions. Also, China has not joined the sanctions against the Russian Federation, while, according to The Wall Street Journal, Beijing is neutral on this issue, without taking sides.

Formerly People’s Liberation Army of China (PLA) take part in military exercises “Vostok-2022” in Russia. This was reported on the official website of the Chinese Ministry of Defense. The military from Belarus will also take part in the exercises, reports RT. The exercise will be led by Chief of the General Staff of the RF Armed Forces, General of the Army Valery Gerasimov.
