U.S. Central Command forces disabled the St. Kitts-flagged commercial vessel M/V Huda in the Gulf of Oman after the crew ignored repeated warnings and attempted to violate a naval blockade against Iran, CENTCOM reported.

The strike, executed by U.S. military aircraft using precision munitions directed at the vessel’s stern, follows a period of intensifying maritime enforcement. The command stated the crew had been directed to abandon targeted spaces prior to the engagement. The incident represents a further escalation of the American maritime blockade that has been in place since July.

CENTCOM reports that 147 commercial vessels have complied with American warnings and altered their course. Conversely, five ships that refused to cooperate have been disabled in similar military actions. The command estimates the maritime blockade has prevented Iran from exporting crude oil valued at over $25 billion.

The scale of the engagement in the region was also noted by the UK Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO), which reported an incident involving a merchant ship and military forces in the Gulf of Oman, approximately 33 kilometers east of Fujairah in the United Arab Emirates. The UKMTO did not provide further details regarding the vessel’s damage or the condition of the crew.

U.S. Creates Task Force for Land Blockade

CENTCOM announced a shift in strategy with the creation of Task Force Iron Gate. Based in Tampa, Florida, the new unit will consist of approximately 20 military and civilian personnel. The force is tasked with extending the blockade beyond the water to overland trade routes, coordinating with other U.S. government agencies to intercept the transfer of advanced weapon systems, dual-use technologies, sanctioned materials, and illicit revenue streams into Iran via its land borders and the Caspian Sea.

Explosions Heard Across Southern Iran

As military activity intensified, Iranian state media and the IRNA news agency reported hearing explosions in several locations across southern Iran, including the port cities of Bandar Abbas and Jask, and Qeshm Island in the Strait of Hormuz. Iranian television suggested the blasts may have been caused by military activity by Tehran, though no official information regarding the source or casualties was immediately provided.

These developments occur alongside reports of ongoing diplomatic efforts to ease tensions between Washington and Tehran. U.S. President Donald Trump commented on the unfolding situation, noting, We are talking to the Iranians, let's see how it develops. He added, They want very much to make a deal. We'll see if there will be a deal.
