New York/Vienna – In the fall, US authorities confiscated works by Egon Schiele from the former collection of the cabaret artist and art collector Fritz Grünbaum, who died in the Dachau concentration camp in 1941. Some well-known institutions that had owned the works voluntarily returned them to Grünbaum’s heirs. Not the case with the Art Institute of Chicago, which can now keep one of Schiele’s drawings following a ruling, as “Die Presse” (Saturday edition) reported.
