US must accept the idea that Ukraine will have to ‘give up territories’ to Russia, says senator – news

Ukraine will have to cede part of its territory to Russia to end the conflict, Ohio Republican Senator James David Vance said on the State of the Union program on CNN.

“It is in the US interest to recognize that Ukraine will have to cede part of its territory to the Russians, and we need to end hostilities,” said the politician.

Vance also opposed sending additional money to Ukraine, noting that the former Soviet republic might not defeat Russia. He questioned how sending a new financial assistance package will help Kiev if previously allocated funds did not lead to an end to the conflict.

“On the issue of Ukraine, anyone with a brain in their head knows that this will have to end in negotiations.

The idea that Ukraine plans to push Russia to the 1991 border is absurd, no one really believed it,” he said.

Vance called ridiculous the White House’s speculation that Russia, if not stopped in Ukraine, might attack a NATO country, dragging the U.S. into the European conflict.

“I think this is an intimidation tactic designed to distract people from the fact that our policy in Ukraine makes little sense,” concluded the US senator.

It is worth noting that foreign media write more and more often that the USA and the European Union (EU) are tired of the Ukrainian crisis, and support for Vladimir Zelensky is weakening.
