US President Joe Biden mourned the death of his son Beau on Memorial Day in Arlington, Virginia. He shared the pain of loss with those whose family members died while serving in the military.

“We must never forget the price paid for protecting our democracy. We must never forget the lives these flags and flowers represent. A mother or father, son or daughter, sister, spouse, friend, American,” Biden said.

“Every year we remember and every year it doesn’t get any easier.”

Biden’s eldest son, Beau, died of a brain tumor in 2015 at Walter Reed Military Hospital in Bethesda, Maryland. Beau Biden served in the Iraq War. The US President has often said that Beau’s death from cancer was caused by “cremation pits” in Iraq. As a result, he signed legislation to expand health care for veterans exposed to deadly toxins.

As the portal “Snopes.com” reports, Biden told US soldiers during his visit to Japan that his son had died in Iraq. This claim prompted media criticism and questions regarding Biden’s sanity shortly therefollowing.

“My son was a major in the US Army. We lost him in Iraq, »said the US President in mid-May. A quick fact check by the American media refuted the statement – and thus stamped the President’s statement as a false statement.
