Feb 11 (Archyde.com) – The U.S. Senate Banking Committee said on Friday it had set a vote on the list of nominees for the Federal Reserve’s monetary policy panel for February 15.

Fed Chairman Jerome Powell, who is set to be re-elected as head of the central bank, is likely to receive quick confirmation from lawmakers. Other top nominees include Lael Brainard, Sarah Bloom Raskin, Lisa Cook and Philip Jefferson.

Brainard, who aspires to be promoted to vice president of the central bank, is already governor of the Fed; while, if confirmed by the full Senate, Bloom Raskin would become the head of financial regulation at the Federal Reserve.

Lisa Cook and Philip Jefferson are African-American economists whose addition to the Fed’s current all-white FOMC committee would make the panel the most diverse in the central bank’s 108-year history.

The Banking Commission hearing is scheduled for early afternoon.
