US stocks close on their best month since 2020

(CNN)–US stocks rose, on Friday, for the third day this week, ending the month higher as investors shrugged off rising inflation and a contracting economy.

The three major indices ended their best month of the year, while the S&P 500 and Nasdaq posted their best months since November 2020.

The Dow Jones rose 6.7% in July, the S&P 500 grew 9.1% and the Nasdaq rose 12.4%.

The Dow added 317 points, or 1%, on Friday and is up 3% for the week, the S&P 500 is up 1.4% on Friday and 4.3% over the week, and the Nasdaq is up 1.9% on Friday and 4.7% for the week.
