The major stock indexes on Wall Street closed sharply lower at the end of trading on Friday.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average ended the trading session down by 1008.38 points, or 3.0 percent, to reach 32,283.40 points. The broader Standard & Poor’s 500 Index lost 141.46 points, or 3.4 percent, to reach 4057.66 points. The Nasdaq Composite Index of technology shares plunged 497.56 points, or 3.9 percent, to 12,141.71 points.
