Due to a short circuit problem, Toyota is recalling more than 1 million vehicles made in the US.
The auto company said a short circuit in the vehicle’s sensors could prevent airbags from deploying properly, increasing the risk of injury during a crash.
Several vehicles from model years 2020 through 2022 are among those with ineffective Occupant Classification System sensors, which ensure that the airbags do not deploy if a child or small adult sits in the front seat.
The company plans to begin notifying affected homeowners in mid-February. Dealers will then examine the recalled vehicles to see if the sensors need to be replaced.
