According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, Genesis is recalling nearly 100,000 vehicles due to a potentially deadly fire risk in certain models.

Federal safety regulators issued the recall following learning that water can enter the starter solenoid and cause an electrical short, which can lead to a fire in the engine compartment while the vehicle is parked or driving.

Warning indicators include engine smoke, a burning or melting odor, and difficulty or inability to start the engine.

The recall includes nine brands of Genesis, federal officials report. These are which ones are affected.

What models are affected?

The recall affects 90,907 vehicles between the following models and years:

Genesis G70, from 2019.
Genesis G80, from 2017 to 2019.
Genesis G90, from 2017 to 2019.
Hyundai Genesis from 2015 to 2016.

What should I do if my Hyundai or Genesis is recalled?

So far, NHTSA reported, Hyundai has had no reports of injuries or deaths related to the problem.

Owners are advised to park vehicles outside and away from structures until the recall repair is complete.

Dealers will install a repair relay kit in the engine junction box, free of charge, federal safety regulators said.

Notification letters are expected to be mailed to property owners by April 13.
