VERMILLION — South Dakota football fiddled around for a while in its pivotal contest against North Dakota Saturday afternoon.

But following a mistake-ridden first half which ushered a two-possession deficit, the No. 6 Coyotes sprung to life against the 10th ranked Fighting Hawks in the final two quarters, and delivered a 14-10 win — proving one of its biggest wins in program history.

Buoyed by a dominant defensive effort, USD (8-2) remained in the game despite a pair of goal line turnovers, and the Coyotes’ offense strung-together a pair of touchdowns drives to take a 14-10 lead in the final quarter.

North Dakota’s final drive was shut down by a batted-down pass from defensive lineman Miquise Grace, and USD notched its second-straight win over a top-10 opponent.
