The last September 29 was published the Supreme Decree Nº 108-2022-PCM, in the newspaper El Peruano, where the regulations for the optional use of masks. In the case of people who present respiratory symptoms, it is mandatory to have cubrebocas KN95 or a three-fold surgical with a community mask.
The Government specified that the use of the mask will still be required in hospitals or other health establishments, as well as in land transport and closed spaces.
The regulation details that in the case of educational institutions, masks will be optional for both students and teachers, provided that proper ventilation of the environments is guaranteed.
In restaurants or similar spaces that are closed without any ventilation, face masks may be removed only at the time of eating food.
For people who have any respiratory symptoms, use will continue to be mandatory.
In addition, the supreme decree states that, If any of these provisions are violated, a fine must be paid. In case they do not make the payment, then they will be prohibited from carrying out any procedure before state entities.
These measures were advanced by the head of the Ministry of Health, George Lopez, last September 22. The official specified, in a press conference, that these measures would come into force as of this Saturday, October 1.
