Akaki Kuumeri, a YouTuber is at the origin of this DualSense adapter. Printed in 3D, this accessory attaches to the left controller. Place the controller on a surface such as the thigh for example. Move it to move the joystick. The L1 and L2 buttons are replicated on the right side of the accessory.
A second accessory which is optional, offers the inputs of the directional pad. Apart from the Share button, the player could use the entire controller with one hand.
And as the DualSense is symmetrical, Akaki Kuumeri announces that this accessory can be duplicated to fit the other side of the controller. It suffices to apply a mirror effect to the components before they are printed.
A revolutionary creation
Akaki Kuumeri submitted his DualSense adapter to a one-handed controller design contest. The players not having to worry about using the Sony controller with both hands, can also use this accessory.
The YouTuber even gave a video demonstration of part of It Takes Two, a cooperative game. He played it solo thanks to these adapters attached to two controllers. This device would also allow players to have a snack or drink something without having to pause their part.
Its designer admits that its accessory will not be able to solve all the accessibility concerns suffered by gamers. Some might even tire more quickly or not have the dexterity to use it. Still, this 3D printed DualSense adapter could allow more gamers toaccess games like Ratchet & Clank : Rift Apart et Returnal. All they need is access to a 3D printer and they have a PS5.
