“Being a minister means taking on a mission that requires total mobilization of personal resources”, explains Valérie Glatigny, in charge of Higher Education, Social Advancement Education, Scientific Research, University Hospitals, Youth Aid, Houses of Justice, Youth, Sports and Promotion of Brussels “Today, after 4 years in office, I am leaving my post to soon undergo a medical intervention. This will require a rest period which is incompatible with the management of my nine skills.”
In consultation with her party, she will present her resignation to the Parliament of the Wallonia-Brussels Federation today.
“I leave with a feeling of serenity, explains the minister. We can count on a network of talented people and I know that succession will be assured. And I am available to facilitate the passing of the torch.”
Valérie Glatigny also draws this assessment: “Several reforms that seemed necessary to me in my skills have been carried out, or are on the right track. Despite the health crisis and the other crises that have marred my mandate, I have done my best to print a message of excellence, equal opportunity and good management of public money.
And to conclude: “To the person who will take over, as well as to the whole of the government, I wish every success in finalizing the last files of this legislature”.
In a reaction, the president of MR Georges-Louis Bouchez thanked Valérie Glatigny for her “excellent work”, in particular the increase in the number of Inami numbers. “Valérie will have a place of choice on our lists in 2024 and will be a major asset of the MR”, he assures. The minister-president of the government of the Wallonia-Brussels Federation Pierre-Yves Jeholet also praised the work of the minister on Twitter and showed her his respect.
Note that the MR will hold a press conference this Friday, July 7 at 10 a.m. and will present the minister who will replace Valérie Glatigny. Will therefore be present the president of the MR, Georges-Louis Bouchez, Valérie Glatigny as well as the new minister.
