Call of Duty: Vanguard (hereinafter referred to as Vanguard), which made a public apology for skin plagiarism just two weeks ago, is again embroiled in skin plagiarism controversy.

Activision Blizzard unveiled a new skin ‘Doomsayer’ for Japanese operator Shigenori Ota through its official Twitter account on the 16th. However, opinions have been raised among fans that the appearance of this Doomsayer skin is similar to the character design of the game ‘Deaddrop’, which is being produced by a developer called Midnight Society.

Deaddrop’s character, whose similarity was found, was revealed in early July. In fact, the character and the Doomsayer skin give the impression that they are the same concept in many ways, including the appearance of wearing a black hood with a blue glowing skull face, and the shape of the armor they are wearing. Depending on the case and point of view, the similarity can be sufficiently recognized.

One interesting thing is that the designer who created Deaddrop’s character is Robert Bowling, who worked on Call of Duty in Infinity Wars in the past. Upon learning of this fact, Robert Bowling indirectly criticized the controversy on Twitter, saying, “At least (in the credits) my name should be included.”

Activision Blizzard had a similar problem about two weeks ago. On July 31st, the new skin ‘Royal Samoyed’ for Vanguard’s Korean operator ‘Taeyoung’ was criticized for plagiarizing the work of concept artist Sailin. In the end, Activision Blizzard publicly apologized for the incident on the 6th and removed the skin.

Activision Blizzard has not yet responded to the controversy.
