by Alexandra Hartman Editor-in-Chief

Get Festive at the Winter Book Festival!

Celebrate the holiday season with a trip to the Ventspils Main Library for the Winter Book Festival, taking place December 13th from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. This cherished annual event promises an afternoon filled with festive cheer, unique gifts, engaging workshops, and musical delights.

Discover Unique Gifts and Support Local Creators

The Winter Book Festival offers a fantastic opportunity to find the perfect holiday presents for everyone on your list while supporting talented local makers. Original crafts, handcrafted greeting cards, festive ornaments, and other unique creations will be available for purchase, ensuring your gifts are both special and meaningful.

“Virja LK,” a book wholesaler, will bring their wide selection of titles, offering books at great prices. For the first time, the festival will feature “Closer Coffee,” a local coffee roasting company. Visitors can enjoy a freshly brewed cup of coffee on site or take home a personalized bag of premium beans. Sweetening the deal, confectioner OSIAS from Piltene will provide tantalizing treats suitable for both everyday indulgence and holiday celebrations.

Creative Fun for All Ages

Children and young people from Ventspils State 1st Gymnasium and Ventspils 6th Secondary School will also showcase their creativity, offering a range of handcrafted items for sale. In addition, attendees can show their support for families and children with special needs by purchasing works created at the “Cimdiņš” center.

The library’s creative team will provide festive workshops for the smallest guests, allowing them to make beautiful ceramic Christmas tree decorations and experience the magic of shadow theater.

Book Lovers Rejoice

Author Kristine Juchkoviča will be on hand to present her debut book, “Don’t say yes or no,” at the event. This is a fantastic chance to meet the author and get your copy signed. For bibliophiles and trivia buffs, a quiz focused on festive literature promises to test your knowledge and provide plenty of fun competition.

Musical Delights and Festive Cheer

The enchanting sounds of the pho saxophone, played by talented Elīna Sproģe, and the lively chords of the keyboard, performed by Evelīna Lielaisramane, will create a heartwarming musical backdrop for the afternoon.

Supporting Our Community:

“When buying a gift made by a librarian,” the organizers announce, “the proceeds from the purchase will be donated to the association “Minku Parks.” This presents a wonderful opportunity to give back to the community while finding unique gifts.

The Winter Book Festival continues to promote the library as a vibrant community hub for cultural enrichment, social connections, and rewarding leisure time.

“We welcome everyone who wants to have a good time and make holiday gifts,” says the event organizers.

Admission to the Winter Book Festival is free, so come celebrate the season with family and friends at the Ventspils Main Library.
