Stunning new images of Mars were recently captured by NASA’s Curiosity rover. We tell you more.

Two cemented rock spikes almost resembling the petrified remains of ancient trees: this is what the rover Curiosity spotted on Mars and offered us images on May 15 thanks to his Mastcam instrument, as you can see below.

As reported by theSETI Institute, “Here is another cool rock at Gale crater on Mars. The points are most likely the cemented fillings of old fractures in a sedimentary rock. The rest of the rock was softer material and was eroded. »

Curiosity has been exploring Gale Crater for almost a decade, but this new discovery is a fascinating insight into the Red Planet’s geological past.
