Vettel improved by one tenth and a half the time of his compatriot Nico Rosberg, who had done a 102-lap binge with his Mercedes W06 to leave the time at 1:23.106. Until Vettel’s stellar appearance, Rosberg had set the best time in the first session of the official Formula 1 testing held at the Jerez Circuit for four days, until next Wednesday.
The Mercedes W06 surprised by its speed and, above all, its reliability, which allowed it to run five times longer than Red Bull, Ferrari and Williams.
