Victor Wembanyama: Rise, Fall, and Redemption at NBA All-Star Weekend

French prodigy Victor Wembanyama missed out on the NBA young talent tournament. He was making his first appearance at an All-Star Weekend event Friday in Indianapolis.

On the sidelines of the All-Star Game scheduled for Sunday, the NBA organized a mini-tournament on Friday with four teams made up of its young talents, with ‘rookies’ (beginners), like Victor Wembanyama, ‘sophomores’ (second year) and G-League players (NBA development championship).

Wembanyama had the pleasure of finding himself in the ‘Pau’ team, coached by former Spanish player Pau Gasol. But this event, although without any issues, turned into a small humiliation for the Frenchman, eliminated in the semi-final by the team made up of G-League players (41-36).

Main attraction of the tournament, Victor Wembanyama was particularly clumsy. Wanting to put on a show, he attempted several complicated moves and lost 5 balls in 11 minutes which weighed down his team, of which he was still the top scorer (11 points).

The 20-year-old Frenchman will have the opportunity to catch up on Saturday as he takes part in the ‘Skills challenge’, a skill competition, alongside established stars like Trae Young and Anthony Edwards.
