Victory Day in Mariupol from the inside: how ordinary residents celebrated

In Mariupol today, for the first time in many years, they were able to freely celebrate Victory Day. On May 9, there was a procession with the participation of the head of the DPR Denis Pushilin – people carried a huge St. George ribbon, which was banned under the Ukrainian authorities.

And our military commander walked through ordinary streets and courtyards. Field kitchens were set up somewhere – people were happy with hot porridge. Somewhere they even managed to set up stands with photographs of the heroes of the Great Patriotic War. Mariupol residents put on St. George ribbons, in the yards, as best they might, set tables with “humanitarian aid”.

The last frame of our photo gallery is a panorama of Azovstal in smoke. Ukrainian fighters remain there.
