Al-Kholoud Clinches Victory, Coach Sparks Debate Over Title Contenders

Al-Kholoud Club secured a crucial victory over Al-Wahda on Wednesday evening, defeating them 1-0 in the 21st round of the Roshen League. Mezziana Molida scored the lone goal of the match in the 20th minute of the first half, setting the stage for an exciting finish. The second half saw no changes to the scoreline, leaving Al-Kholoud with a hard-fought win.

Controversial Statements from Al-Kholoud’s Coach

In the post-match press conference, Al-Kholoud’s coach, Noureddine Bin Zakari, made headlines with his bold statements regarding the league title contenders. “We achieved a tough and important victory, we were fighting to stay, but now we have the ambition to reach the first seven positions,” Bin Zakari declared.

When questioned about the title race, he asserted, “eternity is not one of the teams nominated to win the title, we cannot be compared to clubs such as Al Hilal or Al-Ittihad, as they are the only clubs to achieve the title this season.”

Bin Zakari further fueled the debate by excluding Al-Nasr from the list of potential champions. “Victory, Al-Qadisiyah, and Al-Ahly are not among the candidates for the league title in my view, to be realistic, the competition is currently confined between Al-Hilal and Al-Ittihad only,” he stated.

Acknowledging Victory’s Strength

Despite his seemingly dismissive stance on other clubs, Bin Zakari acknowledged victory’s potential. “Victory is a strong team and has all the possibilities to compete for local and continental titles,” he conceded.

Call for Greater Support for Smaller Clubs

The coach also expressed a desire for change in the league’s support structure. “I hope next season there will be greater support for small clubs such as eternity, which will contribute to increasing competitiveness in the league,” he pleaded. Bin Zakari emphasized the need for a more equitable distribution of resources. “Support should not be exclusive to certain clubs,” he stressed.

Concluding his remarks,Bin Zakari reaffirmed his team’s ambition. “Our ambition to end the season in the first seven positions, and we will work to achieve this with our available capabilities,” he stated, demonstrating his unwavering commitment to his team’s success.

This victory propelled Al-Kholoud to 25 points, securing them the 11th position on the league table.Meanwhile, Al-Wahda remained at the bottom with 13 points.
