Dadis through the Public Health Surveillance program (Sivigila) reported that three cases of monkeypox or monkeypox have been ruled out in Cartagena. The cases correspond to 2 people of the female sex and 1 to the male sex between 30 and 56 years of age.
The suspects did not comply 100% with the operational definition of the event in terms of the epidemiological background that refers to an epidemiological link with a confirmed or probable case; history of recent travel to cities where outbreaks have been confirmed; history of travel to endemic areas (Africa) where contact with live or dead animals that are reservoirs of the virus is reported, and epidemiological link with a confirmed or probable case.
Eva Pérez, leader of Sivigila indicated that it is essential that the exposed epidemiological conditions be met in order not to wear down the health system with unnecessary alerts, the three probable cases were managed immediately.
