In other videos of the same type making millions of views on TikTok, Aoubaid collects bulky items to fix them and give them to his friends or neighbors. And yet, this pedagogical coordinator has no training in the matter: he learned everything from tutorials on the internet. “Anyone can do it,” he says. The principle is just to show people that all it takes is a little motivation”.
Success obliges, today, the whole building, even the whole district, knows who to contact in the event of a breakdown or breakage. “Once there were 20 people waiting in my living room for me to fix something for them. My wife started to get fed up. But Aoubaid does not budge: he continues to meet the demands of his neighborhood and now stores the devices found outside in his cellar, which has become a large bric-a-brac. And its subscribers have already, too, taken the hand.
Another tip: if some devices remain difficult to repair, it is always possible to resell them in spare parts, which sometimes combined “may have a value greater than that of the device”, adds our repairer. In a context of inflation, his advice makes sense. “You have people who don’t necessarily have the means to buy a new washing machine, and the motivation is there”.
