Little Guerrier, whose real name is August Main de Bouja, is a 40-year-old author, singer and composer. The artist grew up in the ghetto of Paramaribo, the capital of Suriname. In 2001, he crossed the Maroni and settled in Saint-Laurent du Maroni in Guyana.
A busy career
In 2003, Little warrior was spotted and joined the Reggae Matic Crew with whom he will release two albums and the hit Jah is real (elected song of the year 2007 in Guyana).
His fame increased in 2008 with the song Black Woman, I Love You during his appearance on the music show 9 weeks and 1 day. This title allows Little Guerrier to represent Guyana at the Francofolies 2008 from La Rochelle and the IndieTrends in Paris.
Since then, the Amazonian warrior has chained albums (already six to his credit) and musical collaborations.
Music has always animated me. At the age of 12 I was deeply inspired by the mystical nature of Bob Marley’s music and my relationship to music changed (…). Reggae is more than a musical style, it’s a liberation movement.
Inspired by the 1995 song “Natural Mystic” by Bob Marleyhe begins to write and sing following the teaching of Emperor Haile Selassie. Serving and spreading a positive message to the world then becomes a mission for Little Guerrier. He also puts into practice the precepts of Rastafarianism in his everyday life. In the morning as soon as he wakes up, he plays music, then he takes care of his plants and consumes Moringa leaves.
Committed to young people
The artist who spent his youth confronted with the violence of a ghetto, calls today, through his texts, for the unity of peoples. To spread his message of peace, he hosts awriting and singing workshops like at the Léopold Elfort high school in Mana. This is his way of contributing to society. With young people, he shares his message of love and peace.
