Vietnam Airlines’ Lotusmiles loyalty program is offering members two new fast-track options to achieve elite SkyTeam status, according to a sponsored post by the airline published Thursday.
The program introduces a status match opportunity, allowing members to receive Titanium, Gold, or Platinum status for 12 months with a fee ranging from US$99 to US$299, depending on the tier and the source of their existing elite status. A status booster is similarly available, providing a 2x or 3x multiplier on qualifying miles earned on Vietnam Airlines-operated flights for a 90-day period, with subscription fees of US$99 to US$198.
Currently, Lotusmiles elite status tiers – Titanium, Gold, and Platinum – correspond to SkyTeam Elite, SkyTeam Elite Plus, and SkyTeam Elite respectively. These tiers unlock benefits such as priority check-in, baggage handling, boarding, extra baggage allowance, and lounge access on Vietnam Airlines and its 18 SkyTeam partner airlines, including China Airlines, Delta, and KLM.
The status match program is open to residents of Australia, Austria, Bahrain, Cambodia, Canada, China, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Israel, Italy, Japan, Korea, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Norway, Philippines, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Taiwan, Thailand, the United Kingdom, and the United States.
Vietnam Airlines will match status from 47 eligible airlines. Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer Elite Gold, PPS Club, and Solitaire PPS Club members can directly match to Lotusmiles Platinum, which is equivalent to SkyTeam Elite Plus. The airline will also match elite status from 19 hotel chains, though hotel status matches are capped at Lotusmiles Gold.
The status booster program, available both inside and outside of Vietnam with varying fees, provides an accelerated path to earning qualifying miles. For example, a round-trip Economy Class Flex ticket from Ho Chi Minh City to Frankfurt could earn enough qualifying miles to achieve Platinum status with the 3x multiplier activated.
Payments for both the status match and booster programs will be processed through StatusMatch.com, coded under MCC 7372 (Computer Programming, Data Processing and Integrated System Design Services), and billed in USD, even when processed in Singapore.
