Villars Holding: Catering Sector Challenges and Strategies Amid Rising Prices

2023-09-07 16:36:03

Geneva (awp) – The diversified group Villars Holding recorded a decline in turnover during its first half. The management underlines a “tense situation” in the catering sector and says to remain cautious, particularly in the face of the continuous rise in prices.

From January to June, the consolidated turnover weakened by 3.3% compared to the same period a year earlier to 33.7 million Swiss francs, indicates the semi-annual report published on Thursday.

Operating profit (Ebit) was 1.37 million Swiss francs, up 9.8%. The group made a net profit of 1.11 million, following 1.06 million.

Pause-Café and Xpresso-Café coffee bars posted revenue up 18.1% to 5.2 million Swiss francs.

Retail sales (Restoshop and Suard), on the other hand, fell by 6.8% to 28.4 million. For Restoshop, turnover is posted at 22.4 million, or 8.7% less, due to the sale of a service station in Grauholz in March. The Suard bakeries recorded 6.1 million in turnover, or 2.5% more, thanks to catering and delivery activities, details the group.

On the side of the real estate company Parvico, rental income increased by 27.5% to reach 2.7 million.

For the full year, management expects better revenue and net profit than in 2022, without further details.
