The prosecution for harassment and non-compliance with conditions against movie mogul Vincent Guzzo was dropped on Monday.
Guzzo Cinemas announced, in a press release, that the charges had been dropped, news which was received “with much relief” by the principal concerned.
The businessman was arrested and charged last June for a family dispute. According to what our Bureau of Investigation reported, Mr. Guzzo was arrested for the first time in mid-June, before being released under certain conditions.
The man was then arrested again after trying to communicate with his alleged victim.
The Director of Criminal and Penal Prosecutions (DPCP) did not explain in detail the reasons which led him to drop the charges.
“In Mr. Guzzo’s files, new elements were brought to our attention, which led to a prosecution decision (“nolle prosequi”) being filed considering that we no longer had the conviction of a reasonable prospect of conviction required to maintain the prosecution,” indicated the DPCP.
Mr. Guzzo, for his part, thanked the people who supported him in recent months, particularly his five children.
“I hope I have demonstrated to my children that adversity can be overcome with resilience and determination, and that nothing should stand in the way of one’s path in life,” he commented.
