A reprehensible act of violence was recorded this Monday within the framework of the national soccer tournament, after the 4-0 victory of San Marcos de Arica over Deportes Iquique.
After the resounding victory valid for the quarterfinals of the North Zone of the Copa Chile, a bus of fans of “Los Bravos del Morro” was ambushed with stones on at least two occasions. First within the city and then on the highway.
This can be seen in videos recorded by witnesses and apparently the same companions of the subjects, who took cover in the barrier of the central sidewalk of the route to wait for the machine to pass and throw stones at the windows.
The Arica club itself also shared a record where they show the extensive damage to the machine, even to the driver’s window, an action that may well generate a tragedy.
They will look for those responsible
Through a statement, San Marcos de Arica reported “with great dismay” this “unjustified act of violence, which endangered the safety and well-being of our fans.”
The club called on the authorities to apply all the corresponding sanctions. “These criminals should be out of football, they stigmatize the shows and represent a danger to everyone,” they stated in the text.
They added that they will send information to the local club, Iquique, “to be able to contribute to an investigation that can identify the misfits.”
