Violent fire in a farmhouse on a farm – firefighter was electrocuted

A fire broke out on Saturday evening in the farmhouse on a farm on Brogårdsvej a little west of Ljørslev on Nykøbing Mors. The alarm came to the emergency services at 6.17 p.m., and when the report was of danger to animals, a full firefighting train was dispatched from the station in Nykøbing, as well as extra personnel and equipment from the station in Durup.

However, the fire had not managed to spread to the building where several horses were staying. They were immediately let out into the field. A dog also escaped the flames, which had a good grip on the farmhouse and spread up under the roof, says incident leader Kristoffer Holm, North Jutland’s emergency services at Mors.

The extinguishing work in connection with the fire was made difficult by the fact that there were solar cells on one side of the roof of the farmhouse.

The residents of the property were not at home when the fire broke out.

– We struggled a bit to put out the fire because of the solar cells, which we would prefer to avoid damaging. We therefore had to approach the fire from the other side of the roof as well as from below, explains the incident leader.

It was precisely this situation that led to a crane being called from the Emergency Management Agency in Thisted. It was supposed to help break down the roof structure on the other side of the roof, so that the firefighters could enter the fire from there, says chief of duty Andreas Andersen from the Central and West Jutland Police.

– We also had to call an ambulance, but they were for one of the firefighters who got electrocuted. He was taken to the hospital for a check-up. Otherwise, no one was injured in the fire, explains the warden.

He states that it can immediately appear that the fire started in a boiler room, and from there the fire has spread to the entire farmhouse.

Kristoffer Holm expected at 7:30 p.m. that the entire evening would be spent extinguishing the fire
