BLACKSBURG, VA – Georgia Amoore collected 26 points and Elizabeth Kitley added 24 and the Virginia Tech women’s basketball team defeated the Boston College Eagles 74-63 at home Sunday.
The Hokies (20-4, 11-2) had two players score in double figures, led by Amoore, who had 26 points and four assists. Kitley added a double-double with 24 points and 15 rebounds and Clara Strack added seven points, six rebounds and two blocks.
Virginia Tech shared the ball well in Sunday’s game, racking up 17 assists on 27 made field goals. Amoore’s four assists paced the Hokies and Olivia Summiel also added three assists of her own.
The Hokies did a great job disrupting Boston College shots in the contest, coming away with five blocks. Kitley’s two rejections led the way individually for the Hokies.
The Hokies have two more home games remaining in the regular season. Cheer on Virginia Tech this Thursday at 8 p.m. ET as they host Duke for the Black Out game, tickets start at just $12.

How It Happened
After playing to a 6-6 tie early in the game, Virginia Tech went on a 7-0 run with 5:12 left in the first quarter to take a 13-6 lead. The Hokies then lost some of that lead, but still entered the quarter break with a 15-12 advantage. Virginia Tech relied on its three-point shooting in the period, knocking down two shots to account for six of its 15 points.
The Hokies kept their first quarter lead intact before going on a 5-0 run starting at the 4:25 mark in the second period, highlighted by a bucket from Strack, to increase its lead to 29-21. They kept that lead for the remainder of the period and enjoyed a 37-29 advantage heading into halftime. Virginia Tech dominated in the paint, scoring 12 of its 22 points close to the basket.
The Hokies continued to preserve its halftime lead before going on a 6-0 run, punctuated by a three from Cayla King, to expand its lead further to 43-32 with 7:52 to go in the third. Before the conclusion of the third period, the Eagles had cut into that lead somewhat, but the Hokies still entered the fourth quarter with a 52-46 edge. Virginia Tech knocked down three three-pointers in the quarter to score nine of its 15 total points.
Virginia Tech kept its lead intact before going on a 5-0 run to grow the lead to 59-51 with 7:31 to go in the contest. The Hokies kept expanding the margin and coasted the rest of the way for the 74-63 win. Virginia Tech pulled down three offensive rebounds to score six second chance points out of 22 total in the period
