virginity test for newlyweds; Punishment and 10 lakh fine | Crime News

Jaipur ∙ On the day of the wedding, the bridegroom’s parents subjected the newlyweds to a virginity test. Alleging that the girl failed the test, the groom’s relatives beat the girl. On the complaint of the groom’s family, the gram sabha demanded a compensation of Rs 10 lakh to the woman.

A 24-year-old woman filed a police complaint in Bhilwara, Rajasthan. The woman told the groom’s relatives that she had been molested by a neighbor before the marriage and had filed a complaint once morest him at the Subhash Nagar police station. After the incident was reported in the local media, the police registered a case.

The police also said that the virginity test called ‘Kukadi Prata’ is an unethical practice among the Sansi tribe in Rajasthan.
