Vitali Klitschko, while he still says he supports his president, believes that at the end of the war between Ukraine and Russia, “each politician will pay for his successes or his failures.”
Kiev Mayor Vitali Klitschko believes that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky is “paying for the mistakes he made” and that the Ukrainian people are losing confidence in their leader in the war he is waging against Russia, several foreign media report.
“People see who is effective and who is not. There were and still are a lot of expectations. Zelensky is paying for the mistakes he made,” the councilor told the Swiss media 20 Minutes Quoted by Sky News.
“People wonder why we weren’t better prepared for this war, why Zelensky denied until the end that it was coming to this,” Vitali Klitschko continued.
“We must support him until the end of the war”
The mayor of kyiv also says he wonders about the first days of the conflict when the Russian armed forces entered Ukrainian territory and arrived “rapidly” towards the capital.
“The president still has an important function today and we must support him until the end of the war”, adds Vitali Klitschko a little, “at the end of this war, each politician will pay for his successes or his chess.”
In a previous interview with the magazine The mirrorthe mayor of kyiv had described a form of authoritarianism in Volodymyr Zelensky and considered that “at some point, we will no longer be so different from Russia, where everything depends on the whim of one man”.
The war between kyiv and Moscow took a turn this fall with the increase in Russian military operations in eastern Ukraine.
