Kochi: The Adani Group and the contracting company have filed a contempt of court petition against the government alleging that they did not comply with the order to provide police protection for the construction of Vizhinjam port. In a petition seeking police protection, the single bench had ordered on September 1 to provide police protection to the construction works and the chief secretary, Vizhinjam International Sea Port Limited and the port secretary to ensure police protection. Alleging that this order was not followed, Chief Secretary V.P. The petitioners approached the court seeking contempt of court action against Joy, Vizhinjam International Sea Port Limited Company, Port Secretary and others. Justice Anu Sivaraman, who ordered police protection, may consider the plea on Thursday.

The petition says that despite the High Court’s order to provide police protection, the protesters have entered the port construction area and the construction has been obstructed. Clarifying this, Adani Group has filed several complaints with the government along with contempt of court petitions. The strike has been going on since August 16.

The contempt petition also states that the government is not ready to stop the illegal activities or face the protesters. The petition has also demanded that if the state government and the police are unable to maintain law and order, steps should be taken to seek the help of the central government.
