On Sunday, the Head of the Age Committee for Culture, Tourism, Antiquities, and Media in the Iraqi Parliament, Representative Farouk Hanna Atto, was surprised by the decision of the Board of Trustees of the Iraqi Media Network, which he described as “unexpected” due to the exclusion of Nabil Jassem from the presidency of the network.

He said in a statement, “We, as the head of age and members of the Culture, Tourism, Antiquities and Media Committee, have no knowledge of the matter, especially if the reasons are related to delay or corruption,” noting that “it would have been better for the council to provide us with what they have, especially what is required in the removal of Nabil Jassim.”

Atto stressed the need to “withdraw the decision and wait until the Integrity Committee prefers to investigate the matter, after which the issue can be resolved,” explaining that “the Committee on Culture, Tourism, Antiquities, and Information in the Iraqi Parliament issued a statement in this regard.”

Today, Sunday, the Board of Trustees of the Iraqi Media Network decided to relieve the head of the network, Nabil Jassim, from his duties due to administrative violations, and assign another to replace him.

The Board of Trustees voted to assign Abd al-Hakim Jassim Shamkhi the duties of chairing the Iraqi Media Network, recommending that the new head of the network submit a detailed assessment of the network’s departments’ performance to the Board of Trustees within 30 days from the date of his commencement.

The council stressed that the new head of the network must address the reasons for dismissing the previous head of the network within 30 days from the date of his appointment.
