Chênois Genève won the Swiss Cup final in Winterthur 3-1 against Lake Geneva rivals Lausanne UC. This is the 9th trophy for the Genevans.
The winner of the qualifying phase of the LNA thus consoled himself a little with this victory after his unexpected elimination in the semi-finals of the playoffs against Amriswil.
In the final, the experienced Genevans were clearly superior to their opponent. Lausanne could only hope in the 2nd set when Chênois, after winning the 1st set 25-15, let himself go somewhat.
Led by Dejan Radic and Strahinja Brzakovic, their excellent foreign reinforcements, the Genevans reacted immediately after the equalizer to take control of the match. With the score going from 8-5 to 16-6 in the 3rd set and from 5-4 to 12-6 in the 4th set, they made the difference and secured their second Cup success against LUC after 1994.
