The French women’s volleyball team lost against Turkey at the Montpellier Arena this Saturday, August 20, three sets to one. The captain, Héléna Cazaute, wants to retain the positive of this meeting and in particular the third set won by the French.
Helena what do you remember from this match?
There were lots of positive things, we managed to win a set 25 to 14. We know that we still have things to work on but we still have two games to find the rhythm we had lost for a few weeks. . The first set was a little complicated to get back into the rhythm, we didn’t play any friendly matches, we’re going to keep the positive tonight.
What caused it to change during this third set that you win?
I think they also took a false rhythm by putting us 25-9 in the second set. On the contrary, we started to play better, they made a lot of mistakes too, I’m not going to say that we played extraordinary volleyball but we made our merry way to win this set.
What did you say to yourself between the second and the third set to remobilize yourself ?
We just said to like it, because there is an incredible atmosphere tonight and we had never experienced that. Well, we just said to have fun and that was the most important thing.
What can you say about the room and all its spectators?
We were a little afraid at first that the room would be super big but that the public wouldn’t be there, but when we got back we saw this atmosphere and we got the Marseille chills. It’s great that we were able to organize this, a women’s match and a men’s match in stride. We see that the volleyball is followed so it’s only happiness to play in this room tonight.
