Tyrol’s VP Security Minister Mair: “Sensitize the population in order to offer Internet fraudsters as little target as possible”

Vienna (OTS) “The security situation in Tyrol remains good. The number of ads has returned to pre-Corona levels. The number of offenses is therefore in line with the nationwide trend, the absolute numbers make it clear: Austria is one of the safest countries in the world. The clearance rate is over 61 percent, well above the national average. First and foremost, we have to say a big thank you to all the police officers for this success, who work day in and day out to ensure that our republic remains a safe country,” says Elisabeth Pfurtscheller, member of the National Council for the People’s Party.

“The reports in the field of internet crime show a strong increase. The dangers in cyber space are increasing. It is still a new security risk that needs to be improved in this area. Minister of the Interior Gerhard Karner has already taken many important steps to counteract cybercrime and further measures are being prepared. The aim is that the Internet is not a lawless area, but that crimes are also prosecuted in cyber space,” Pfurtscheller continued, who finally emphasized: “The federal government and the Tyrolean state government are doing an excellent job to ensure security in our country. Internationally, Austria is at the forefront when it comes to the safety of the population. The People’s Party will continue to be the guarantor for a safe Austria.”

In this context, Astrid Mair, VP Security Minister for the Tyrol, emphasizes: “Police work does not only begin after a crime has occurred, but already with prevention. This applies to classic offenses from criminal law as well as to the cyber crimes that are now increasingly establishing themselves, i.e. assaults on the internet. We have to sensitize the population here in order to offer fraudsters as little target as possible. I don’t just see this as a question for the executive, but for all of us! aware of the dangers on the web and can thus certainly prevent one or the other attack!”
