VPNÖ fencer on today’s announcement by MEP Karas

St. Pölten (OTS) “We would like to thank Othmar Karas for his decades of commitment in Brussels and Strasbourg. As a centrist party, a path without bans and constraints is a central concern of the People’s Party. In recent years in particular, the EU has increasingly outdone itself with new bans and regulations – including banning combustion engines. However, citizens rightly expect an EU that focuses on its fundamental values: peace, freedom and prosperity in Europe. Our task as a people’s party is to advocate for the centrist positions that have a majority among the population at all political levels. And the voting behavior of some people paints a clear picture. Unfortunately, it must be noted that this consensus-oriented path is not supported by everyone. It is the foreseeable end of a development that has been going on for a long time. The separation in terms of content, which Karas has made increasingly clear in recent years, has now also been structurally implemented. So when Karas now says that, from his point of view, the People’s Party is not the party of the center – then, if you look at all his positioning over the last few years, this is the greatest possible confirmation that we are. We are and remain the party of the center,” said VPNÖ state manager Matthias Zauner.
