VPNÖ fencer to Gewessler: We stand up for our commuters in Lower Austria

St. Pölten (OTS) – Matthias Zauner, regional manager of the People’s Party of Lower Austria, states with regard to today’s statements by Transport Minister Leonore Gewessler: “What Ms. Gewessler does not want to understand is that the People’s Party of Lower Austria is defending itself when it only supports one thing who wants to intervene in commuter assistance for 700,000 commuters in Lower Austria under the guise of ‘greening’. We stand up for our commuters who rely on their cars to get to work – that is common sense politics for the broad majority of the middle of the country. As a minister, you actually have to work for the population and their concerns, not against them. Apparently Ms. Gewessler still hasn’t understood this. And what the Transport Minister also doesn’t want to understand is that a minister cannot blindly follow her dreamy ideology, but must adhere to the law. The democratically decided and legally enshrined projects are not a discussion proposal for an armchair group, but rather an obligation for Ms. Gewessler and ASFINAG. Anyone who believes that a rapidly growing region in the heart of Europe can do without new roads has not left Vienna’s first district for a long time.”
