Mathias Flückiger protests against his positive test
Three weeks after the announcement of his positive test, the Bernese mountain biker published a press release.
Mathias Flückiger claims to have never taken a prohibited substance voluntarily. Three weeks after the announcement of his positive test for the anabolic Zeranol, the Bernese mountain biker published a press release on Wednesday relayed by the Keystone-ATS press agency.
Given the incriminated quantity, Mathias Flückiger considers that the A sample should not be considered as a positive result. Moreover, according to him, Swiss Sport Integrity (formerly Antidoping Switzerland) did not follow the instruction of the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) supposed to prevent any hasty judgment in this type of case.
The Tokyo Games silver medalist relies on two negative samples taken shortly before and shortly after his June 5 positive test. The date for the re-evaluation of the B sample has not yet been set.
