Wages for workers in “construction and real estate” in Dubai increased by 7.3% during the second quarter

The wages of workers in the construction and real estate sector in Dubai increased during the second quarter of this year by 7.32%, according to the classification of the Dubai Statistics Center according to the stages of construction, the central classification of products, as well as economic activity in the emirate, compared to the first quarter of the same year.

The data obtained by Al-Khaleej showed that the index for construction costs according to stages in Dubai rose in the second quarter to 106.62 points, compared to the first quarter of 2023, in which it reached 103.55 points, as it was recorded in residential buildings, 106.73 points, compared to with 103.61 points, while non-residential buildings had 106.13 points, compared to 103.29 points.

Record

The index jumped by 2.97% on a quarterly basis in the three months ending at the end of June, compared to its contraction in the first quarter of 2023 by -0.01%. It rose in residential buildings to 3.01%, while in non-residential buildings by 2.75%.

The construction cost index also increased on an annual basis in the emirate by 2.80% compared to the second quarter of 2022, as it rose for residential buildings by 2.87%, and for non-residential buildings by 2.46%.

The data indicated that the preparatory work for construction and excavation work did not witness a change on a quarterly or annual basis, while construction work increased by 1.59% on a quarterly basis, while residential buildings rose by 1.57%.

And 1.66% for non-residential buildings.

Finishing work rose by 0.23%, residential buildings by 0.27%, non-residential buildings by 0.05%, and wages and other works rose by 6.57%, including 6.70% for residential, and 6.01% for non-residential.
