Waggon Tracker voith technology for rail transport

Voith launches the Waggon Tracker innovative technology for rail freight transport

The Mobility Division of the Voith Group is a company specializing in intelligent drive and connection technologies as well as the provision of tailor-made services and systems. With the aim of bringing yet another novelty to the South American market, the company launches the Waggon Tracker, a new technology that has come to sophisticate the rail freight transport sector.

By combining monitoring and automation with real-time information on freight cars, the product, which is already used in European countries, will provide an even more efficient and safe logistics experience on rails in Brazil. Another addition will be the automation of complex processes, such as brake testing.

Waggon Tracker, digital solution from Voith

A perfect symbiosis of supervision and automation, the WaggonTracker is the result of a partnership between Voith and the Austrian company PJM. This system monitors the weight of the wagons in real time, optimizing the loading operation and reducing process steps. This takes security to a new level, providing instant and accurate information about the load, which can now be accessed remotely.

The Director of Voith’s Mobility Division, Adelson Martins, points out that the launch of the product aims to add efficiency to the logistical process. “Voith brings to South America a product that is already a trend in the European railway market. With WaggonTracker, we will digitize railway loads, adding the advantages of an already validated technology to simple installation and a wide variety of functionalities”.

In addition to the mechanism that makes operational procedures faster and more efficient, the WaggonTracker also makes it possible to perform automatic brake tests for each wagon in the composition, before the trains leave for the trip, further contributing to operational safety.
