Bischofshofen launched the “Stadtup” project in October 2022 to counteract rampant vacancies in the city center. In the RTS election studio, the mayor explains why the community is already taking countermeasures and what they would like from the state side.
Astrid Rössler is a member of the National Council for the Greens and was the regional planning officer for the state of Salzburg until 2018. She says that overall, we are still a long way from the target of land consumption. One must be more economical with new dedications, and better manage fallow land and vacancies. “When it comes to land use in municipalities, a growth scenario is usually still assumed. We have to say goodbye to that.”
