His name is “Pit”, he comes from Hamburg and like “Edgar” he is a plains zebra of a slightly smaller species. A suitable companion for “Edgar” would have been searched for a long time. Finally, in early summer, a friend of the Tiergarten zebra discovered “Pit” in Hamburg. After an acclimatization period in Austria, “Pit” was allowed to move into Walding.
It is always very exciting when wild animals, such as zebras, are brought together and one hopes that they get along well, according to the zoo. In any case, the Waldinger zebra “Edgar” immediately experienced the well-known Upper Austrian hospitality, greeted the somewhat smaller colleague from Germany and showed him the stable and enclosure.
“Since then, the two have been inseparable,” says the zoo. “Although they have very different stripes, the Hamburger and the Waldinger zebra apparently speak the same language.”
One is very glad that “Edgar” and “Pit” get along so well. “And maybe there will be godparents for the two zebra friends at the animal sponsor meeting on October 7th.”
