Actually, he just wanted to go for a leisurely walk with his dogs, but they wouldn’t let them rest. They pulled their owner to a duffel bag parked at the side of the road.
On Saturday morning, shortly after 8 a.m., he found the body of a woman in the New York borough of Queens. As the “New York Post» reports that the man first took the body for a mannequin. ‘She didn’t look very meaty. More like a crash test dummy. I thought maybe it was equipment used for something. I didn’t think anything of it.”
Dogs provide the crucial clue
But then the shock: On closer inspection, the man discovered a lot of blood. He immediately called 911. When the police arrived a little later, the dog owner first wanted to drop off his animals at home so that he could then report to the officers at the station. But the dogs obviously had other ideas.
They led the man to a spot about 90 meters away. The police also followed the trail. And indeed: they found what they were looking for. There was fresh blood on the asphalt.
It didn’t take long for the police to find out who the dead woman in the duffel bag was. Orsyola G.* († 51) lived with her children and her husband in the house that was in the immediate vicinity of the trail of blood.
Son taken away – and released
The gruesome find in Queens’ normally quiet and posh Forest Hills neighborhood has shocked local residents. “It’s absolutely appalling. I don’t feel safe,” said one resident. Orsyola G.’s neighbor described her as a mother who spent a lot of time with her children.
“They were a normal family,” said a neighbor. One of the children, her 13-year-old son, initially fell into the inner circle of the suspects. Neighbors said they saw him being taken away in handcuffs shortly after the body was found – but he was released later that evening.
While a coroner investigates the cause of death, police are now going through the footage from the surveillance cameras that captured what was happening along the way. “Something doesn’t add up,” a source told the New York Post.
G. is said to have known her murderer
‘It’s a mystery. Now it’s about putting together everything she did that night,” a police officer told the newspaper. Nevertheless, one is already a step further. We now know that before the murder, G. told her son that she wanted to see a show on Friday evening. But that was only an excuse, because she actually met secretly with another man.
The images from the surveillance cameras show G. returning home before midnight. “Around 4.30 a.m. you can see someone dragging a duffel bag down the sidewalk,” said the police officer.
Investigators found no evidence of a break-in into the home. They therefore assume that the killer knew his victim. In the meantime, however, the case has taken on new dimensions.
The husband of the murdered woman is said to have received a disturbing text message from the alleged murderer. “Your whole family is next,” he writes. The husband was not in New York until recently. He was in Portland with his 17-year-old son to check out some colleges. There he received the SMS. He immediately booked the return flight to bring himself and his family to safety. “We’re worried about our safety. Our lives are in danger,” he told the New York Post. (ced)
