Wall Street opens lower on interest rate hike concerns

Wall Street’s main indices fell in early trading on Friday, following stronger-than-expected jobs data boosted hopes for another big interest rate hike by the Federal Reserve later this month.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 36.12 points, or 0.12%, at the open to 3,1348.43 points.

The “Standard & Poor’s 500” index fell 14.36 points, or 0.37%, to 3888.26 points, while the Nasdaq Composite Index fell 117.73 points, or 1.01%, to 11,503.61 at the start of trading.
