“We realize, as for the Covid crisis, that higher up, we sometimes make somewhat dogmatic decisions on the electric car”regrets Maxime Daye (MR), mayor of Braine-le-Comte, and President of the UVCW. “And then followingwards, we let the municipalities manage with distraught citizens who do not know how they are going to do to recharge their vehicle in front of their homes when they are in urban areas with single-family houses stuck together. They cannot necessarily pass a cable on the sidewalk.”
These cables, he says, risk complicating the movement of people with reduced mobility and pushing individuals to privatize parking spaces on their sidewalk. The UVCW calls for more consultation between all the actors concerned and asks for the creation of aid for private actors.
